LAKE CRYSTAL, Minn. — The 2022 Minnesota Youth Livestock Expo (MYLE) is scheduled for Fairmont and Jackson, Minn. The MYLE beef, sheep, meat goat and rabbit shows will be held on July 7-10 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont, and the MYLE swine show will be held July 9-11 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson. The MYLE show is open to all Minnesota youth between the ages of 6-21 years old as of January 1, 2022, including all Minnesota 4-H and FFA members.
The 2022 MYLE Show will feature a new “MN Bred and Raised” Division for beef, swine, sheep and market goats. This division is designed for animals in each species that are from a dam that was owned and bred by a Minnesota breeder, animals that were born and have been raised in MN, and animals that are being shown at the MYLE Show by an eligible exhibitor. There will be separate awards and recognition for these divisions at the MYLE show.
According to Kent Thiesse, MYLE Show Coordinator, the “MN Bred and Raised” divisions were added to the MYLE Show to promote and highlight the high-quality show livestock that is being bred and raised in Minnesota and later being shown by MN youth exhibitors. For more information on this division refer to the 2022 MYLE Handbook at: https://issuu.com/stephcronin/docs/mnyouthexporules2022p1
The entry deadline for all species in the MYLE Show is June 12, 2022, with no late entries accepted. This is also the entry deadline for the new MYLE “MN Bred and Raised” division. Youth may enter multiple animals in each species. The MYLE Show is an open youth livestock show that is not directly linked to either the 4-H or FFA programs; however, Minnesota 4-H and FFA members are eligible for the MYLE Show and are encouraged to participate. All MYLE entries will take place through an online entry system. The MYLE entry form, a complete MYLE Show schedule, and other information on the MYLE Show are available on the MYLE website at: www.mnyouthlivestockexpo.com.
In order to adequately cover the show expenses and to be able to provide awards and prize money to the youth exhibitors in the MYLE Show, the show organizers need to rely on donations and sponsorships from businesses and individuals. More information on the MYLE sponsorships and donations is also available on the MYLE website at: www.mnyouthlivestockexpo.com.
Questions on MYLE Show participation and entries, or regarding MYLE sponsorships and donations, can be directed to the MYLE Show Coordinators: Kent Thiesse (507-381-7960) or Steve Pomerenke (507-848-8123).
