LA CROSSE, Wis. — Early registration just opened for the country’s largest conference about organic and sustainable agriculture. The 33rd Annual MOSES Organic Farming Conference takes place Feb. 24-26, 2021, in La Crosse, Wis. The event brings together farmers, researchers, and agriculture professionals to learn the latest organic production practices and build a supportive community of resilient organic, sustainable, and regenerative farms.
The COVID-conscious conference, organized by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES), features more than 60 workshops, 8 full-day classes, a two-floor trade show, organic meals, and round-table discussions plus more opportunities to network. The conference normally draws 3,000 people to La Crosse.
Emily Fowell, a farmer from Westby, Wisconsin, who is a repeat attendee at the MOSES Conference, has found it to be “absolutely packed with useful and applicable information from beginning to end. There are so many things I can take right back to the farm!”
The three-day event starts Thursday, Feb. 24 with in-depth Organic University classes running from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The eight classes are:
- Values-Based Decision-Making Using Holistic Financial Planning
- Farm Transitions 101 with Land Stewardship Project
- Weed Management Practices to Fit Your Farm
- Regenerative Poultry: A System-Level Transformation Strategy
- Vegetable Pathology Bootcamp
- Silvopasture in Practice
- Labor Management on Diversified Vegetable Farms
- Farmers Against Racism: anti-racism training for farmers
The trade show opens the evening of Feb. 24 and runs through Feb. 26. It features more than 170 vendors—buyers, suppliers, and organizations offering services that support farmers. Admission to the trade show is included with conference registration.
Keynote speakers A-dae Romero-Briones and Emily Kawano will be addressing cross-cutting issues that are critical for the organic movement: equity and building a solidarity economy for agriculture.
Early Bird registration for the full conference is $210 through Jan. 4; on-site price is $300. See mosesorganic.org/conference for registration information, workshop descriptions, and more details. To request more information about the conference or a mail-in registration form, call 888-90-MOSES.
