CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. — In February and March, Wisconsin Farmers Union is partnering with Golden Sands RC&D for three beginning farmer workshops in Juneau, Green Lake, and Waushara Counties. The workshops, titled “Money Matters on the Farm,” will bring in experts to speak about grazing and profitability, business management, EQIP and other cost-sharing opportunities.
“As a co-owner/operator of a grazing farm, it’s been very beneficial to attend workshops where I can connect with other farmers and also receive information that I would not have learned on my own,” said Denise Hilgart, farmer and sustainable agriculture coordinator at Golden Sands RC&D. “It’s important to help other farmers succeed, and in our current farm economy, farmers have a heavy load to carry.”
Programming will be the same at each location. Each meeting will run from 10am to 4pm.
Dates and locations include:
· Feb 15th: Western Technical College, 1000 College Avenue, Mauston
· March 1st: Green Lake UW-Extension Office, 571 County Road A, Green Lake
· March 15th: Waushara County Courthouse, 209 S St. Marie Street, Wautoma
The cost for each workshop is $20 a person, which includes lunch. For more details and registration, visit www.goldensandsrcd.org or call 715-343-6215.
