FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Pueblo resident Molly Pitts is a critical partner of the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) as an advocate and voice for the timber industry in Colorado. For her many ways of supporting and cooperating with the CSFS, she received the CSFS Partner of the Year award for 2021.
“I know there is a lot of great work getting done in Colorado by a lot of hard-working people who are passionate about forest management. Therefore, I am very humbled to have been chosen as CSFS’ Partner of the Year,” said Pitts. “I am excited to continue working with the CSFS and other partners moving forward to get the critical work we need done on the ground.”
Pitts is the Executive Director of the Colorado Timber Industry Association (CTIA). This organization represents Colorado’s forest products companies and advocates for scientific, sustainable forest management.
“Molly’s CSFS Partner of the Year Award is well deserved because of her numerous efforts in support of the CSFS mission and vital programs,” said Diana Selby, Manager of Program Delivery with the CSFS. “The CSFS is fortunate to have such a tireless and engaged partner in the Colorado Timber Industry Association.”
Pitts extends the capabilities of the CSFS in meaningful ways. She provides technical advice to the Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation grant program. She delivered Best Management Practices (BMP) training to CTIA members when CSFS staff were unable to due to COVID-19 restrictions and served on the BMP monitoring team. Pitts also helped the CSFS’ Wood Utilization and Marketing program gather feedback on program needs from industry partners. All of her efforts have been in direct support of the CSFS mission to provide stewardship of Colorado’s diverse forests.
“Molly’s recognition as our 2021 CSFS Partner of the Year acknowledges her exceptional support toward improving the conditions of Colorado’s forests and helping the Colorado State Forest Service’s efforts in assisting Colorado’s wildfire mitigation and forest products business community,” said Tim Reader, Wood Products Program Specialist with the CSFS.
Pitts received this award at the virtual CSFS annual meeting in March. Each year through its annual awards, the CSFS recognizes partners and volunteers who demonstrate noteworthy achievement, exceptional effort and career commitment toward attaining the agency’s strategic priorities and mission.
