WHEATLAND, Mo. — Visitors to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Hickory County will find more than 20 booths, demonstrations and activities Aug. 24 at Mizzou to You, a showcase of the University of Missouri’s services, resources and programs.
“We designed Mizzou to You as a fun and informative way for Missourians to see in person how Mizzou makes a real difference in so many people’s lives,” says Sarah Traub, MU Extension engagement facilitator. “We’re showing how the University of Missouri is the University for Missouri.”
The Hickory County event is the first in a series of Mizzou to You showcases throughout the state, Traub says.
At Mizzou to You, visitors can learn about 3D printing, agroforestry, animal health and many other topics; meet local beekeepers and Missouri Master Gardeners; receive free health screenings; see displays about on-farm research; and enter for a chance to win free game tickets from Mizzou Athletics.
Hands-on activities include balloon animals, making steam engines with copper tubes and candles; and farm and home safety demonstrations.
Among the programs Mizzou to You will highlight are Art on the Move and Science on Wheels, which bring art and science into communities throughout the state; 4-H robotics; Tigers for Troops, which provides free legal consultations and guidance for veterans; and the Mizzou Eco Racing and Formula SAE teams.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 7:05 p.m.
Lucas Oil Speedway is at 700 E. Highway 54 in Wheatland. Mizzou to You is included in regular admission to the speedway at no extra charge. For more directions, admission prices and other information, visit lucasoilspeedway.com.
