SEDALIA, Mo. — Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced the third concert of the 2019 State Fair concert series. Tyler Childers will entertain audiences on the Grandstand stage on Wednesday, Aug. 14 with opener Brent Cobb.
Childers, a singer-songwriter from Kentucky, will bring his unique sound to the State Fair, with a mixture of country, folk and bluegrass. According to his website, tylerchildersmusic.com, his debut album, “Purgatory,” co-produced by GRAMMY award winners Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson, is a “semiautobiographical sketch of Childers growth from wayward youth to a happily married man.” The album features songs including “Whitehouse Road,” “Nose on the Grindstone” and “Feathered Indians.”
Opening for Childers is Brent Cobb, a singer-songwriter from Georgia. His GRAMMY-nominated debut album, “Shine On a Rainy Day,” is described as “neither Southern rock nor mainstream country, the sound sits somewhere on the wide bandwidth that exists between the two,” according to his Facebook page. His sophomore album, “Providence Canyon,” was released in 2018.
Tickets for the show are $30 and $20 and will go on sale to the public starting June 25. Individuals can sign up as a Fair Fan on the Fair’s website, mostatefair.com, for information about concert ticket presale opportunities and other Fair news.
