SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri Dairy is eager to equip the dairy industry with information on how to generate a new revenue stream. On Friday, January 21st Missouri Dairy hosts the Beef on Dairy Symposium in conjunction with their annual meeting at the Oasis hotel and conference center, in Springfield Missouri.
“We have a great line up of experts for the Beef-on-Dairy symposium.” said Reagan Bluel, Educational Director for Missouri Dairy. “There is a strategy to the breeding decision and management to create the highest quality carcass.”
“Dairyman need to know all the details from milk replacer to marketing of these valuable animals.” said Sean Cornelius, MO Dairy secretary.
The growing segment of beef bred calves and purebred Holstein steers has economic impact on local dairies’ bottom line. Producers Tom Oelrichs and Bernie Van Dalsen will share the panel with Chip Kemp, from International Genetic Solutions, to describe experiences they’ve seen in production in Missouri and beyond.
A meat scientist, Teagan Schnurbusch will summarize recent research on this topic and economist Joe Horner will help producers determine what model best fits their farm.
