PLAINVIEW, Minn. — The Minnesota FFA Foundation announced the establishment of the James E. and Nancy L. Youngs Proficiency Fund. This gift was made for the purpose of funding the Minnesota FFA Sheep Production Proficiency Award. This proficiency award recognizes the achievements of FFA members who own or work for a business that includes the best management practices available to efficiently produce sheep, sheep products and wool.
“I am thankful that my parents supported me in nearly everything I ever wanted to do in FFA, and now the time has come for me to invest in the organization that helped prepare me for a fulfilling and rewarding career in agriculture,” said Dr. Curtis R Youngs. Dr. Youngs has chosen to invest in the future of Minnesota’s agricultural leaders by endowing the sheep production proficiency area in memory of his parents, who resided in the Winona, Minnesota area until their passing. This named proficiency award will last for perpetuity starting at the 2019 Minnesota State FFA Convention.
The Foundation is grateful for the generous support of Dr. Youngs and all other supporters as it works to provide educational and leadership opportunities for the nearly 11,000 Minnesota FFA members who aspire to become leaders in agriculture as well as their local communities.
The Minnesota FFA Foundation’s mission is to secure strategic partnerships and financial resources that promote and enhance premier leadership, personal growth and career success for Minnesota youth in Agricultural Education.
