TIMONIUM, Md. — F. Grove Miller will be honored for 40 years of service as chairman and president of the Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society, Inc., at a private ceremony today at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Chairman Emeritus Miller continues to serve on the Board and its Executive Committee.
During the ceremony, The Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society, Inc. will announce that its scholarship program will be named after Chairman Emeritus F. Grove Miller. Since the Maryland State Fair’s inception in 1879, agriculture education has been one of the Maryland State Fair’s top priorities.
“We are honoring Grove for decades of selfless service to the Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society and also for his role as farmer, advocate, statesman, role model and friend,” said Maryland State Fair Chief Executive Officer Andy Cashman. “Grove, through various efforts over the past four decades, has promoted and enhanced agriculture education for thousands of youth who have participated in the Maryland State Fair. And, he has enlightened hundreds of thousands of fairgoers of all ages on the importance of agriculture, 4-H/FFA and Thoroughbred horse racing to Maryland and the world. It is only fitting that our scholarship program be named after him.”
The nine $2,000 F. Grove Miller Scholarships will recognize the importance of education and participation in the Maryland State Fair, reward the accomplishments of youth, help them with their educational pursuits and promote the importance of agriculture.
