INDIANAPOLIS — Midwest Hemp Council and Indiana Farmers Union will host a Fiber Forum & Field Day on August 30 in Martinsville, Indiana. There are two sessions for attendees to choose from – one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Attendees can expect a fun-filled day of learning and networking! Each session will include four stations, where you will learn about:
- The agronomics of hemp production, pests affecting hemp and how hemp fits into our Indiana agricultural landscape (presentation by Purdue Extension)
- How hemp is harvested and post-harvest preparation before it goes to a processor (demonstration by Bish Enterprises)
- The necessary processing steps of the hemp stalks, specifically decortication (demonstration by Formation Ag)
- Novel and traditional applications of hemp fiber
Lunch is included with registration. The morning session will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon and the afternoon session will be from 12:30 – 4 p.m. Each session is limited to 50 guests. The cost to attend is $25 for Midwest Hemp Council Members and $50 for non-members. The registration deadline is Tuesday, August 24.
