JACKSON, Mich. — On Jan. 20, 2021, from 6:30-8 p.m., Michigan On-Farm Produce Safety’s Produce Safety Technicians will present their first in a series of virtual Tech Talks. The talk titled “Traceability and Components of a Produce Safety Plan” will address the FDA’s proposed rule for Food Traceability.
Produce growers in attendance will hear from Dr. Jennifer McEntire, Vice President of Food Safety and Technology at United Fresh Produce Association. She will discuss the proposed rule for Food Traceability. She will cover components of the proposed rule, how it could affect produce operations of all sizes, and how produce growers can submit a public comment to the FDA regarding the proposed regulation.
Attendees will also hear from Michigan Produce Safety Technicians Jordan DeVries and Michelle Jacokes on the nuts and bolts of a traceability program, as well as, how to get started in developing a Produce Safety Plan. Time will be set aside to ask questions of the speakers.
