ST. PAUL — The following is a statement from Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap regarding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) repeal of the 2015 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.
“Minnesota Farm Bureau members care deeply about the land and water. The 2015 WOTUS rule was unreasonable and unworkable and ultimately made conservation more difficult for farmers and ranchers. We are glad to see the old rule repealed so that a new rule can be written that provides clarity and commonsense.”
“Minnesota farmers and ranchers fully support clean water and clear rules and repealing the 2015 WOTUS rule provides a fresh start to get this important regulation right. We will continue to work with the EPA to ensure clear rules that will protect our water and our ability to work and care for the land.”
“The Administration’s announcement follows a multi-year effort by the American Farm Bureau Federation, state Farm Bureaus and an array of allies to finalize a new rule that protects the nation’s waters and provides clear rules for states, farmers, rural communities and businesses.”
