ENFIELD, Conn. — Recognizing his service to Northeast farm families, a memorial fund to honor long-time Farm Credit employee Don Rogers has been established through Heifers International. Don was a pioneer in the development of Farm Credit’s consulting programs to strengthen farm businesses and facilitate generational transfer. He also played an important role in the early years of the FarmStart program to assist young farmers.
The fund was initiated by Friends of Farm Credit. Retired Farm Credit association CEO Jim Chamberlain said, “Don Rogers made a major contribution in developing farm consulting and helping farm families to be successful.”
Heifer International provides livestock and training to help struggling families in third world countries out of poverty.
Don worked as a consultant throughout the Northeast helping farm families with business management and the transfer of management and ownership to the next generation. He was also a passionate mentor who worked closely with young staff to pass on his knowledge and expertise.
