EAST LANSING, Mich. — As a member-owned cooperative, GreenStone is committed to sharing net profits with its hardworking and dedicated members. On March 22, GreenStone’s official Patronage Day, eligible customers can visit their local branch to enjoy a sweet treat and collect their share of this year’s $33 million payment.
As a strong and stable financial institution, GreenStone is able to share approximately 25 percent of its net earnings this year with members through a patronage refund. Patronage has been a benefit of GreenStone membership for the last 12 years, and in that time the association has returned a total of $268 million to its members.
“It is our mission to support rural communities and agriculture, and one of the best ways we can do so is by reinvesting in our members, their businesses and our communities through patronage,” said President and CEO Dave Armstrong. “With this current agricultural economic cycle, we know a patronage refund is welcomed additional income for our members. As a borrower-owned cooperative, we are committed to sharing our net profits. GreenStone will be there to support our members, today and tomorrow, regardless of market or industry fluctuations.”
