ATLANTA — USDA will swear in seven farmer-leaders at the National Peanut Board’s quarterly board meeting December 4-5 at The Ellis Hotel, 176 Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, Ga. 30303. Members and alternates were appointed to the National Peanut Board earlier this year by Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue and will serve three-year terms from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021.
Returning members to be sworn in are Andy Bell (Ga.), Bud Bowers (S.C.) and Peter Froese Jr. (Texas). The returning alternate is Jeff Roper (Texas). The new member to be sworn in is Micah Barham, (At-Large, La.). Harry Wimberly (S.C.) and Clay Deane (At-Large, Mo.) are the new alternates.
Also, NPB will elect 2019 officers who will be instated in the roles of chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer and secretary. Their terms run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2019. Current officers are Greg Gill (Ark.), chairman; Dan Ward (N.C.), vice-chairman; Peter Froese Jr. (Texas), treasurer; and Andy Bell (Ga.), secretary.
The quarterly board meeting will be held in conjunction with the American Peanut Council’s Winter Conference Dec. 5 and 6.
