BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — On March 17, The Illinois Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society is hosting a meeting “Pollinators & Beneficial Insects – Habitat Planning, Management and other concerns,” to be held at the Asmark AgriCenter, 14171 Carole Dr., Bloomington, IL.
Speakers will include – Jennifer Anderson-Cruz, State Biologist with IL NRCS; Dr. Aaron Hager, Associate Professor in Crop Sciences at U of I; and Dr. Sean Jenkins, Associate Professor in Biological Sciences at Western Illinois University. Topics will include “Pollinators & Beneficial Insects – What they are, What they do, Habitat Planning & Management”, “Palmer Amaranth and other weed concerns” and “Prescribed Burning for Habitat Management – Pollinators & other considerations”.
Meeting sign-in will begin at 9:00 with rolls and coffee provided.
Registration is $5 for SWCS members or students and $20 for non-members. Hot lunch is included in the registration fee. 4 CCA hours in IPM have been requested.
The meeting is open to the general public and anyone interested in pollinators and pollinator habitat are encouraged to attend. Advanced registration is requested by March 10th. Send registrations to McLean County SWCD, 402 N Kays Drive, Normal, IL 61761. Checks should be made out to IL SWCS.
