GREENSBORO, N.C. — As part of Guilford Local Foods Celebration, Elam Gardens (www.elamgardens.com) is hosting a local “urban agriculture” tour on Thursday, September 28th at 5:30 p.m. lasting no more than 1.5 hours.
As part of Greensboro’s suburban environment you can discover how intensive agriculture methods are being used to create a local food farm, including chicken composting, raised beds, wildlife friendly zones, rain water collection, and solar energy systems.
The tour will start at Elam Gardens ( 712 S. Elam Ave) and explore how the farm is working with local restaurants and The Corner Farmer’s Market (www.cornermarketgso.com) to help rebuild a local food infrastructure. Members of the local food web like The Corner Farmer’s Market, corner restaurants and beekeepers will be on hand to discuss the benefits of building an uber-local food supply.
This is a limited ticket event, restricted to 20 attendees so book online early. Reserve your spot via http://www.guilfordextension.com
