Meat Madness: What Message is Shaping Your Buying Opinions?

In today’s sound-bite driven world, we are constantly bombarded with conflicting messages about nutrition, food safety, technology and animal care. Join Lynn Bliven, Agriculture & Natural Resources Issue Leader to learn how you can navigate the blogosphere of food myths at the meat counter. Valuable information and resources will be provided to help you understand important truths about the modern food system and how to communicate with producers what it is you are truly seeking in your choice of meat purchases.
Participants will be also introduced to theMeat Suite, a website designed to help consumers in NY find locally produced, high quality meats in bulk. Regardless of your buying preference,Meat Suite aims to help you find your farmer! Following the presentation will be a Taste of Allegany with an opportunity to meet with farmers throughout the county.
There is no fee to attend however preregistration is requested by May 20th to assure adequate supplies and sample available. Please contact Lynn Bliven at 585-268-7644 ext. 18 or lao3@cornell.edu if you have questions or to pre-register for the event.
