GLENWOOD CITY, Wis. — Meat goat breeders, youth, and potential judges have an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on November 9 &10 at Glenwood City, WI when world-renowned Boer goat judge and author, Dr. Fred Homeyer, Texas, will be the keynote speaker and judges workshop instructor at the 2019 Fall Meat Goat Seminar and Judging Workshop.
The workshop begins on Saturday at 9:30 with Dr. Homeyer covering: Selection and characteristics of a Boer Goat, Keep vs Cull, and Importance and signs of good carcass merits. The afternoon sessions focus on Economics of Goat farming, live classes, also a question and answer discussion panel. A meal concludes the day’s activities.
Sunday morning registration starts at 8:30. The judges training session runs from 9:00-noon with live evaluation of meat goats. For anyone who may consider judging meat goat show in the future, this is the event you will want to attend. Dr. Homeyer offers a handbook that accompanies his training. When you complete this training, you will have confidence and the materials needed to judge shows.
Registration is due by October 21. The cost is $40 for one day $60 for two day for adults, $15 for youth age 12 and up. Dr. Homeyer’s handbook is $15.00. Come for one or both days. The event will be hosted at Boot Jack Boers, 1050 Rustic Rd 3, Glenwood City, WI 54013.
