ST. PAUL — A 10-member Chinese delegation visited Minnesota in late April to learn about Minnesota’s food inspection and safety programs. The Chinese delegation was represented by both national and local government officials responsible for China’s food safety, and port inspection for imported food and agricultural products. In addition to meeting with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) and Minnesota Department of Health, the Chinese delegation also visited the University of Minnesota, Cargill, TJ Farms, CH Robinson, the port of Duluth, the USDA’s field office, a grain farm, and grain shipping terminals.
China is Minnesota’s top export market for agricultural products.Soybeans, feed grains (including corn), pork, and dairy are among China’s top import commodities from Minnesota.
