TIMONIUM, Md. — Earlier this week, the 2022 Maryland State Fair team raced to Indianapolis, Indiana for the International Association of Fairs & Expositions (IAFE) Fairs United Convention and won multiple awards.
The Maryland State Fair competed in Division 4 for fairs with attendance of 500,001 – 1 million.
“Our Maryland State Fair team is honored to be recognized for the hard work and dedication it takes to present high-quality, fun, and educational entertainment events for more than a half million fairgoers each year,” said Maryland State Fair General Manager Andy Cashman.
The IAFE annually awards excellence in fair programming through four educational contests: Agriculture, Competitive Exhibits, Communications, and Sponsorship. These contests allow fair members to submit award-winning ideas and programs to be judged by IAFE member representatives and professionals from respective fields. The Maryland State Fair was awarded four 1st place, one 2nd place and one 3rd place awards.
The Maryland State Fair received the following IAFE Hall of Honor Communications Awards sponsored by K&K Insurance:

The Maryland State Fair Prepare for the Fair 40-page, full-color program served as the 2022 Official Event Guide with daily schedules of events, agriculture, special exhibit and sponsor ads, a fairgrounds map, and the 141st Maryland State Fair history featuring then and now photos.

The Maryland State Fair Prepare for the Fair social media concert reveal campaign promoted the four national artists performing in the 2022 Maryland State Fair Live! ON TRACK Concert Series. Creative and fun Guess the Artist reveals, based on given clues, were used to announce each act.
The Maryland State Fair received awards in the following IAFE Agriculture Category sponsored by ShoWorks:
1st Place: Fair Agriculture Individual Photo: Miscellaneous. Award presented for “The Higher the Horns the Closer to God” photo from the first Maryland State Fair Longhorn Cattle Show.
2nd Place: Fair Agriculture Individual Photo: Horticulture/Crops. Award presented for the “Stop and Smell the Hay” photo of the award-winning hay display in the Maryland State Fair Farm & Garden Building.
3rd Place: Fair Agriculture Individual Photo: Agriculture Non-Equine. Award presented for “The Longest Yard” photo of a young girl walking her pig down the barn aisle toward the Swine Show Ring at the Maryland State Fair.
The Maryland State Fair received an award in the following IAFE 2022 Innovation in Sponsorship Category sponsored by Etix:

When the Maryland State Fair changed to a three-weekend schedule, it left several weekdays open for local companies to consider sponsoring private employee appreciation events on the Midway. Autumn Lake Healthcare partnered with the Maryland State Fair to hold the first ever “Autumn Lake Healthcare Family Fun Night.” The event was a tremendous success for both the Fair and Autumn Lake Healthcare with nearly 8,500 employees and family members in attendance.
