GOSHEN, Ind. — Elkhart County Master Gardeners are planning two events this month for those interested in learning more about gardening.
On March 10 from noon to 4 p.m., the Master Gardeners will hold their annual Spring Celebration event at Greencroft, 1820 Greencroft Blvd., in Goshen. The topics are attracting birds and bees to your garden, will be of interest to many people. Charlotte Hubbard, a beekeeper and author of several pollinator publications, will lead discussion on bees. Janet McGowan, of Birds Unlimited, will address drawing birds into your area. There will be vendor booths and other educational opportunities at this program.
Tickets for Spring Celebration are $10 per person and are available at Six Span Hardware and Central Hardware in Elkhart; Better World Books, the Goshen Farmers Market, and the Purdue Extension Office in Goshen. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12.
On March 24, Master Gardeners will offer a free seminar at the Nappanee Public Library, 157 N Main, on Beginning Gardening. The program will run from 10 a.m. to noon. Simple tips for beginning gardeners will be discussed. Everyone should be able to come away with a few good ideas to help with your gardener in 2018.
The Master Gardener program is sponsored by Purdue Extension. It is an educational volunteer training program designed to help people learn about gardening. People trained in the program then volunteer to help others in the community learn more about gardening. The next series of classes will be offered this fall in Elkhart County.
