MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — It’s flowers, flowers everywhere in the May virtual programs hosted by the gardeners at Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County!
Orange County Senior Master Gardener Gerda Krogslund will present Growing and Selecting Flowers for Floral Arrangements on Tuesday, May 11th from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. via Zoom. If you love being able to cut flowers from your own garden to create flower arrangements, then this program is for you. You will learn which plants – annuals, perennials and shrubs – have ideal blooms for cut flower arrangements and how to cut and “condition” flowers so that your arrangements will last longer. Finally Gerda will show examples of beautiful arrangements that everyone can do and demonstrate how to create a beautiful arrangement using flowers from her own garden.
If you prefer growing flowers in a container, please join us for Creating Beautiful Container Gardens on Tuesday, May 25th from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. via Zoom. During this workshop you will learn the secrets of creating both stunning and functional container gardens. A power team of four Master Gardener Volunteers – Janis Cortright, Judy Norelli, Lore Orchowski and Pat Pawliczak – will start off by teaching the basics of container gardening and finish off by showcasing the container gardens they have planted this year. Whether you are looking to grow vegetables and herbs, create a beautiful living screen, or just beautify your home, this workshop will help you get your container gardens off to a great start. Come be inspired by their creations!
Pricing is available on a sliding scale for both programs. There is a suggested fee of $10 per participant, $20 to sponsor yourself and another participant in need, or a $0 solidarity price for those who cannot pay. Gardening in Orange County subscribers receive a discounted price of $8.
