COBLESKILL, N.Y. — Schoharie Master Gardeners will offer multiple workshops on timely topics during March. Beginning on March 3 and 4, volunteers will exhibit at Cobleskill Home & Garden Show, Cobleskill-Richmondville HS, bringing the latest on stopping the spread of a growing list of invasive species as well as information on other timely topics.
Two workshops follow at the Extension Center, 173 S. Grand St., in Cobleskill: Tuesday, March 6 at 3:30 p.m. – Joellen Lampman from the NYS IPM program will present (free) a Tick Update, highlighting the latest in tick ID and preventive measures for what has become a major public health issue. The second workshop is Saturday, March 10, from 10 to 11 a.m.– Master Gardener Susan Carver will present, Plant This, Not That! – ideas about out how you can help New York’s future look greener by selecting ‘native friendly’ plants in your garden instead of invasive plants. ($5/person)
Finally on Saturday, March 17, is Large & Small Fruit Pruning at Bohringer’s Fruit Farm, 3992 St. Rt. 30, Middleburgh. Join Laura McDermott, Fruit Specialist, Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Program for this popular hands-on session from10:00 a.m. to noon. Appropriate early spring dress and footwear are recommended; personal pruning tools are welcome. ($10/person, payable at door)
