CANFIELD, Ohio — Do you love gardening? Do you love sharing your gardening knowledge with others?

Then join us for an Open House where we’ll share our love of the OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program! The Open House will be held Friday starting at 10 a.m.

It will be held at the OSU Extension office, located at 490 S. Broad St. in Canfield, Ohio. Questions about the event can be answered by calling 330-533-5538.

Join us for social time to talk about the program, enjoy refreshments and fellowship with current Master Gardener Volunteers. We’ll share details about our upcoming training and help you with any questions about joining. Our next training class starts March 14th.

The OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities in Mahoning County. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; we only require a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others!

Our Master Gardener Volunteers provide such educational services to the community, including: answering gardening questions from the public; conducting plant clinics; gardening activities with children, senior citizens or disabled persons; beautifying the community; developing demonstration gardens; and other horticultural activities.

The Master Gardener Volunteer program trains individuals in the art and science of gardening through an in-depth training program. Classes include everything from vegetables and fruit to plant diseases and perennials.

Our Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program will enable you to experience the educational side of gardening. To become an OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, applicants must attend all training sessions and complete 50 volunteer hours the first year.
