SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The dates have now been set for the 2020 training classes in Greene County for new Master Gardeners.
The 2020 training classes for new Master Gardeners will be held April 28 – June 30, 2020, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave. Springfield.
The fee to attend the Master Gardener training is $200 per person.
Training classes will include sessions on plant propagation, soil health, home vegetable production, home fruit production, trees, pruning, lawn and turf grass, botany, insects, herbaceous ornamentals, landscape design, and plant diseases.
“With this new class format and time we will be able to offer field trips and more hands-on learning activities, said Kelly McGowan, University of Missouri Extension Horticulture Field Specialist.
For class attendees, 30 hours of volunteer service is also required during the first year.
Orientation sessions are set for April 7 and April 9 from 6-8 p.m. (You only have to attend one orientation session). Orientation sign-ups will begin in March and interested individuals will receive an email around that time with sign-up details.
