LEBANON, Pa. — The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Lebanon County will hold their annual Plant Sale & Garden Faire from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6, at the Brightbill Barn, Lebanon Valley Exposition Center & Fairground.
More than 5,000 plants including native plants, perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetables—all selected by Master Gardeners—will be available for purchase.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer design ideas, help with selection of appropriate varieties and provide information on plants’ growing conditions.
Among the 90 different annual flower and foliage varieties will be 70 different Proven Winners—all in 4-inch pots. Annuals also can be bought in unique combinations of six varieties designed by Master Gardeners.
Four new collections will be offered this year: Made in the Shade, Cut Flower Garden, Vacation Survivor (drought resistant) and Penn State Sun Lover Stars. The last collection features the ‘best of the best’ annuals for our region grown at Penn State Flower Trials in Landisville in 2022.
Tomato lovers will have 24 varieties of well-known heirlooms and hybrids from which to choose. New this year is Federel, a paste tomato with 7-inch long banana-shaped red fruit, that makes a thick sauce.
For smaller fruit and smaller spaces such as containers consider Burpee’s Veranda variety which only grows 20 inches high.
Information also will be available on Spotted Lantern Fly control, Monarch butterflies and becoming a Master Gardener.
Come early for the best selections. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted.
The Brightbill Barn is located on the left side of the Expo, 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon.
