ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For thirty-one years, gardeners visited the grounds of Highland Park’s Warner Castle on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend where plant vendors offered unique and specialty plants to gardeners looking for the unusual. Pat Maurer, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County board member reports they now host the 32nd event at 5 Castle Park on the corner of Mt. Hope and Reservoir Aves. This year’s event is Saturday May 26, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Buyers will find annual & perennial flowers, vegetables, herbs, trees & shrubs of a different stripe, as well as garden art. Vendors know how Rochester weather treats plants. They seek out and offer the most durable varieties for this sale. This market showcases smaller area growers that buyers may be less familiar with. It is an opportunity for gardeners to connect with vendors they may want to visit at a later date. Volunteer Master Gardeners, including Maurer, will be there responding to your gardening questions.
