ORONO, Maine — The annual Maine Vegetable and Fruit School for farmers will be offered twice – in Portland on March 13 and in Bangor on March 14.
The school, from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m., will be held March 13 at Seasons Event and Conference Center, 155 Riverside St., Portland, and will be repeated March 14 at the Bangor Motor Inn Conference Center, 701 Hogan Road, Bangor.
It is offered by University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Vegetable and Small Fruit Growers Association. Topics include a legislative update, sending samples to the Plant Disease Diagnostic Lab, brown-tail moth management, maximizing farm operations with value-added products, managing root diseases, integrated pest management for high tunnels, improving record keeping, and paper mulch trials at Highmoor Farm.
Registration fee is $45 per person, $55 if received after Feb. 26, and includes lunch; preregistration is required by March 2.
