ORONO, Maine — Registration is open for the Maine Grass Farmers Network annual conference 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m., March 28, at the Kennebec Valley Community College, Alfond Campus, Route 201, Hinkley.
Troy Bishopp, owner of Bishopp Family Farm in Deansboro, New York will deliver a keynote address about the use of extended grazing. The family farm is a certified organic, 100% grass-fed, custom grazing operation. Conference session topics include direct marketing and planning tools, soils and hydrology, forage quality, pastured pork and climate adaptation resources. Sponsors include University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.
The conference fee is $60; $45 for current MGFN or Maine Beef Producers Association members; and $25 for each additional person or students age 18 and younger. Vendor booths are $100. Lunch and snacks are included. Register online.
