PITTSFIELD, Maine — Do you love Maine cheese? Then come join a celebration at the Maine Cheese Festival on September 12, 2021 at Manson Park in Pittsfield! Partnering with the Maine Office of Tourism, the Maine Cheese Guild wants to share the art of cheesemaking and spread the love of Maine cheese with their premier event. Festival-goers will be treated to live music, food trucks, a beer tent, as well as an opportunity to ‘Meet the Makers’ — or to put it another way, meet some really cute goats. Beyond the fun and the tasty treats, this year’s Cheese Festival will also shine a spotlight on the Mainers who are making exceptional cheese with its first annual Cheese Awards.
Can’t wait until September? Join the Maine Cheese Guild this summer at one of their other upcoming events, such as Open Farm Day on July 25th. This is another great opportunity to learn more about Maine cheesemakers and their farms. Participating farms include:
- Maggie’s Farm at Mulberry Farm, Bowdoinham
- Lakin’s Gorges Cheese, Friendship
- Abrahams Goat Farm and Dairy, Newport
- Smiling Hill Farm, Westbrook
- Balfour Farm, Pittsfield
If July 25th doesn’t fit your schedule, you can also visit the adorable sheep and goats at Fuzzy Udder Creamery in Whitefield, a Maine Cheese member that offers regular ticketed farm visits right now.
The Maine Cheese Guild wants you to love cheese and the Mainers and animals who produce it. Their mission is to support and encourage the Maine cheesemaking community, educate cheesemakers and consumers, and share the joy and art of regional cheeses. An incredible resource for cheese-lovers everywhere, the Guild offers classes and product information, and organizes community events such as the Maine Cheese Festival and the Maine Open Creamery Day. For there is much joy to be had, and much cheese to enjoy!
