FALMOUTH, Maine — On Wednesday May 16, 2018, seven Cumberland County 4-H members received post-secondary education scholarships at the Maine 4-H Foundation Annual Meeting held at the University of Maine Orono Campus.
University of Maine Cooperative Extension Cumberland County 4-H members Brooke Bickford, Megan Caruso, Calli-Ann Leach, Hasbo Omane, Jordyn Merrill, Glen Ratliff, and Keltan Tanguay were awarded scholarships through the Maine 4-H Foundation on Wednesday May 16, 2018. Maine 4-H Foundation Scholarships and Book Awards are awarded to outstanding 4-H members across the state based on their dedication to 4-H, volunteerism, leadership ability, academic success, and career aspirations. Maine 4-H Foundation scholarships are given to graduating seniors to reward them for a rich 4-H career and to help them attain higher education in hopes that they will in turn be strong 4-H advocates in their spheres of influence today and into the future.
Brooke Bickford earned the Lafayette Hotels Scholarship. She is a member of the Cumberland County 4-H Swiners Pig Club, and Young Farmers Beef Club. Brooke is graduating from Greely High School and will be attending Otterbein University to study Biology and Equine Studies.
Megan Caruso earned the Audrey and Clayton MacIntyre Scholarship. She is a member of the All Star Dairy 4-H Club. Megan is graduating from Cheverus High School and will be attending High Point University to study Acting.
Calli-Ann Leach earned the Evelyn Trotzky Scholarship. She is a member of the Cumberland County All Star Dairy 4-H Club. Calli is graduating from Thornton Academy and will be attending Southern Maine Community College to study Health Sciences.
Jordyn Merrill earned a Bahre Family Book Award. She is a member of the Paws ‘N’ Pals 4-H Dog Club and Cumberland County 4-H Teen Council. Jordyn is graduating from Windham High School and plans to attend Wheaton College for English and Creative Writing.
Hasbo Omane earned the Azure Dillon Scholarship. She is a member of the Humanitarian Assistors 4-H Club. Hasbo is graduating from Portland High School and will be attending Smith College to study Biochemistry.
Glen Ratliff earned a Dr. Harold and Marion Chute Scholarship. Glen is a member of the Wild Manes 4-H Horse Club. Glen is graduating from Scarborough High School and plans to attend the University of Prince Edward Island for Veterinary Science.
Keltan Tanguay earned a Farm Credit/Gladys E. Conant Scholarship. He is a member of the All Star Dairy 4-H Club. Keltan is graduating from Gorham High School and plans to attend Saint Joseph’s College of Maine for Biology.
