HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — The Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation (MAEF) is now accepting applications for its 2021 Urban Garden Grant.
This grant program is open to schools and community organizations serving students in grades PreK- 12 interested in providing hands-on agricultural experiences with a focus on the reduction of impervious surface on schoolyards. The maximum grant award will be $500. Applications are due by November 15, 2021.
“There’s no better way to engage and excite our youth about agriculture than by providing them the opportunity to create, grow, and cultivate in their own way,” says Joe Dymek, chairman of the MAEF Board of Directors. “Our Urban Garden Grants support a variety of projects statewide that support educational standards and give students and residents a hands-on experience in the field of agricultural science.”
Award announcements will be made by December 15, 2021. Additional support for this grant program is being provided by the Edward Byrd Foundation.
