EXETER, Calif. — Lori Apodaca has joined the California Citrus Mutual staff as Director of Regulatory Affairs. A 2001 graduate of UC Berkeley, Lori has spent the early part of her career working at the International Trade Commission as a senior trade analyst; engaged in program management for the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development, and attended the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
Lori came home to Exeter, California in 2015 seeking employment satisfaction in this area and parked in education for two years before finding the opening at CCM. Her role will be analyzing regulatory proposals for the citrus industry from a myriad of agencies in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. “Finding Lori is an outstanding addition to our staff as we become more aggressive challenging those who create negative public policy for the family farmer and otherwise impose unintended consequences on growers who provide a nutritious product and thousands of jobs year round,” states CCM President Joel Nelsen.
“Her skill set includes analysis, advocating, and writing. Her communication capability, she speaks three languages, is of high value. She understands that words and regulation is a necessary avenue for public policy implementation and with her background she can detect mischief and problem areas quickly,” Nelsen concludes.
Crop protection tools, air quality, and water use proposals are anticipated to be her initial area of engagement.
About CCM: CCM is the only advocacy organization representing CA citrus growers on the economic, regulatory, and political issues that impact them most. Our 2,500 members represent 75% of California 270,000 acre, $3.3 billion citrus industry.
