DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach dairy team is co-hosting a dairy goat management meeting on Friday, Dec. 10 at the Twin County Produce Auction Building (note new location, behind Stringtown Grocery Store), 2250 540th Street, Kalona, IA 52247. This program is co-hosted by the Central States Dairy Goat Production Sale.
The agenda will include:

11:30 am – Dairy Goat Housing and Ventilation, Brian Dougherty, Ag Engineer
12:00 noon – Lunch (sponsored by Central States Dairy Goat Production Sale)
12:40 pm – Billy Goat Sale Requirement Update, Butch Sowers, Central States Dairy Goat Production Sale
1:00 pm – Pat Gorden, DVM, Milking System Checks and Improving Your Milk Quality
2:00 pm – Virtual Dairy Tour with Low-Cost Milking Systems, Jenn Bentley and Larry Tranel

This meeting will focus on CAE eradication and Milk Quality with the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Our dairy extension team will provide practical applications for dairy goat housing, ventilation and milking systems,” Tranel said.

Dairy goat webinar focusing on “Making the most of your Dairy Goat Records with PCDART” Dec. 14, 2021, from noon to 1:15 p.m.
During this webinar, Greg Palas, manager of User Support Services Dairy Records Management Systems at Iowa State University, will provide information on useful reports that can be created to monitor dairy goat health. “During the webinar, I will demonstrate how to generate reports and points on using the reports to tweak dairy goat management” Palas said. There is no fee to attend the program; however, registration is required.
