BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — The latest offering from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County is their Vet Science Course. Hosted by the Saratoga County 4-H, the five week course is held annually for youths 12 and up.
This year, participants had diverse opportunities to learn about all aspects of Veterinary Medicine. Local veterinarians who specialize in both small and large animals were invited to discuss the details of their work. Students also learned about calving and bovine anatomy with Dr. Sonya Mulder and her two headed calf. Saratoga Animal Shelter took participants for a tour of their facility and spoke about medicine in a shelter setting, as well as animal intake and placement.
The 2019 course will conclude on Wednesday April 3rd with a suture lab and then a trip to Cornell University on Saturday the 6th. For more information on the program and how to participate, please call 518-885-8995. The 2020 details will be posted on our website and social media as the next enrollment date approaches.
