ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Licking County Farm Bureau, in partnership with Licking County OSU Extension and Licking Soil and Water Conservation District, is hosting a Farm Tour this summer.
The farm tour will be held July 13, 2019, starting at Lynd Fruit Farm, 9090 Morse Road at 8 a.m. From there, participants will board buses and visit three separate farms: Legends Lane Reproduction Services, Lynd’s Blue Frog research farm and SouthFork Dairy. Each location offers a unique look at agriculture.
Legends Lane Reproductive Services will showcase a state-of-the-art monoslope cattle barn designed around animal comfort. This is a cattle working facility with a top quality laboratory for performing embryo transfer and in vitro fertilization.
Blue Frog Farm features locally grown fruit production with a wide variety of fruit trees and berries. Here, Lynd Fruit Farm also conducts research for new apple varieties.
South Fork Dairy is home to multiple breeds of dairy cattle and a milking parlor capable of handling 64 cows at a time. The barn is the largest cross ventilation barn in Ohio and is designed for cow comfort.
The buses will return to Lynd Fruit Farm following the tours for lunch.
The cost for the tour is $15 per person, Farm Bureau members are only $10 per person. All children under 18 will be provided a seat for free. Seating is limited and early reservations are encouraged.
