SPRINGFIELD — Thirty Lincoln Land Community College Agriculture Club members competed at the Illinois Postsecondary Agriculture Student (PAS) Organization fall conference held at LLCC Nov. 1-2. Students from eight community colleges and universities participated in contests designed to test their knowledge and readiness for their future careers.
The LLCC college bowl team of Dakota Dowson (Auburn), Clayton Schowe (Springfield), Lori Jackson (Jacksonville), Connor Walker (Plainview), Austin Dennison (Virden) and Nathan Goebel (Harvel) won first place. This is the third year in a row that LLCC has earned top college bowl team honors at the state conference.
LLCC’s crops specialist team of Mason Fesser (Fillmore), Nathan Thompson (Carlinville), Will Rexroad (Athens), Evan Roemer (Hettick) and Ryan Archibald (Nokomis) won second place. The soils specialist team of Will Rexroad (Athens), Matthew Campbell (Carrollton) and Shane Eggimann (Taylorville) also took second place.
Placing third were the LLCC dairy specialist team of Brady Dowson (Auburn), Allison Benner (Williamsville) and Ryan Archibald (Nokomis) and the LLCC sheep specialist team of Thomas Crome (Springfield), Annie Schoetmer (Springfield) and Jimmy Stickley (Springfield).
Individual awards were given to Eston Coe (Illiopolis) for first place in the ag sales and the employment interview contests; Nathan Goebel (Harvel) for second place, employment interview; Lori Jackson (Jacksonville) for second place, employment interview; and Allison Benner (Williamsville) for third place, employment interview.
The teams will now travel to the National PAS Conference in Loveland, Col. in March.
