PISCATAQUIS CO., Maine — The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) honored Steve and Diana Hobart of Blanchard, Maine with a Lifetime Achievement Award for their exceptional work over the years in natural resource conservation, protection and education.
The Hobarts have exemplified land stewardship through forestry and farming practices at their Breakneck Ridge Farm in Blanchard. In addition, they have worked for decades to educate others and to help shape conservation management decisions at the local, state and Federal level.
The day was a wonderful celebration complete with a guided farm tour and a homemade luncheon followed by an award ceremony, and congratulations and stories about the Hobart’s impact from Ben Tucker, Regional Representative from United States Senator Angus King’s office, Maine State Representative Paul Stearns, Maine Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) Executive Director Carol Weymouth, and Bill Bell, former MACD Executive Director. Stearns, Tucker and Weymouth all provided the Hobarts with proclamations to mark the occasion. After these speeches, the PCSWCD presented Steve and Diana with their award.
