ALEXANDRIA, Ohio — Licking County Farm Bureau, in partnership with Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District and OSU Extension Licking County, brings you the 2021 Licking County Farm Tour. The Farm Tour is June 19, 2021, and features two unique farms in Licking County.
This year’s tour starts with breakfast at 7:30am at our first farm, Watts Farm in Alexandria. Tours will start at 8:30 and will showcase their grain and beef operation as well as their seed sale business. Phil Watts began farming in the 1970’s with 70 acres. Since then, the farm has expanded to 2,500 acres and 2,000 head of cattle on feed. The expansion has happened while maintaining itself as a true family farm. Guests will see the top notch facilities and equipment needed to successfully operate this farm and learn more about the management needed to make the operation profitable.
As you finish your tour at Watts Farm, guests can leisurely drive themselves to the second tour stop, Timbuk Farms near Granville. Tours at Timbuk will be staggered so guests can arrive anytime before 11am.
Hidden from the road and nestled within a picturesque Christmas tree farm is a greenhouse facility unlike anything else you would imagine. You may think of Timbuk as a Christmas tree farm but it is so much more. See ten acres under roof of greenhouse structures including state of the art equipment. Use of technology has allowed Timbuk to become one of the nation’s leaders in flowering plants. Our tour will end here with a treat from Velvet Ice Cream.
Guests are also encouraged to support local businesses owned by these two farms: Granville Milling at 400 S. Main Street, Granville as well as Timbuk Farms retail store, 1810 Columbus Road, Granville.
The cost for the Farm Tour is $12 per person or $20 per couple. Your ticket includes a catered breakfast, admission to both tours and access to a Farm Tour t-shirt for only $5 more. Tickets are limited and are available by calling 740-452-2356.
