NICHOLS, N.Y. — Calling all new and beginning farmers, or those looking to get into raising turkeys! Have you been curious about what it takes to successfully raise and process turkeys? Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County on Thursday May 25th starting at 5:30pm as we tour Jordan Farms turkey operation.
Twilight Farm Visit: Learn to Raise Turkeys!
Thursday May 25th
5:30-7:30pm
Jordan Farms (317 East River Rd, Nichols)
Co-owners Justian and Faith will discuss considerations around sourcing and raising turkeys alongside chickens. We’ll learn what it took to get started raising and processing their own turkeys. We’ll tour their retrofitted reefer-truck where they process chickens and turkeys for themselves and other beginning farmers. After the tour and presentation there will be plenty of time to network with your peers! This is a perfect opportunity if you’ve been thinking about getting into raising turkeys either for yourself, or as a business opportunity.
RSVP is required by May 22nd for food planning purposes, as well as to ensure we have enough materials. Click here to register. There is no cost to join through support from the Farmland for a New Generation Program at American Farmland Trust – NY. Questions can be directed to Laura Biasillo at lw257@cornell.edu.
