HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pasa Sustainable Agriculture has opened registration for its fall lineup of on-farm workshops and virtual events, featuring farmers and food system professionals from across the region. Speakers include leaders in sustainable agriculture like Tradd Cotter, bestselling author of Organic Mushroom Farming and Mycoremediation, and Jennie Love, farmer and proprietor of Love ‘n Fresh Flowers.
On-farm workshops will give attendees an opportunity for hands-on learning on topics like mushroom production, perennial cut flowers, welding, and more. A pasture walk in Lancaster County will give dairy farmers interested in starting or improving a grazing operation a chance to get an up-close look at a 100% grass-fed farm and learn about resources available through Pasa’s collaborative Dairy Grazing Project. Later in the season, an Advanced Growers Intensive will give experienced farmers an opportunity to connect with one another while they dig deep on how irrigation and nutrient management contribute to vegetable farm profitability.
Pasa’s fall calendar also includes virtual sessions on food system and policy issues. Attendees can learn how a group of organizations teamed up to reduce single-use plastic in Philadelphia restaurants and hear from Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding about his role on the first-ever USDA Commission on Equity.
Many of Pasa’s in-person events will touch on policy as well. Farmers will be invited to enjoy some refreshments while they share feedback and ideas about Farm Bill programs at events that include a “Farm Bill Happy Hour.”
And don’t miss the return of Pasa’s regional community potlucks, at three locations across Pennsylvania. Attendees will have a chance to meet and (re)connect with other farmers, food system professionals, and changemakers in their area, while sharing conversation and food.
