BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County is offering two great opportunities to learn about food preservation, during the 2019 Saratoga Race Season. Diane Whitten, Food and Nutrition Educator, will be hosting the “Make and Take Courses” at the 50 West High Street, Ballston Spa, NY facility. Thursday, July 18, 2019 participants will get a chance to learn Pressure Canning Vegetables, Meats, and Soups and on Thursday August 1, 2019, is Fermenting and Quick Pickling. Students will be provided with all necessary tools and food, the classes cost $15 per person, and all students will leave with their very own delicious treat!

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County is hosting a 3 day intensive Master Food Preserver Training Course August 13-15, while Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County has one September 10-12, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County hosts September 17-19. This training is for those who would like to go beyond the basics of home food preservation – either for your own use or to help others learn how to safely preserve food. This course is the first step toward becoming a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver.
