UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Those interested in learning about weed management in agronomic crops may benefit from a Penn State Extension workshop titled “Agronomy Weed Management Tour.”
The event will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Penn State’s Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center, 1796 W. Pine Grove Road, Pennsylvania Furnace.
The workshop is designed for industry representatives, agriculture consultants and farmers interested in learning about weed management in primarily agronomic field crops. Participants will tour herbicide programs and other types of weed management research.
The event will cover:
— Several new burndown and in-crop herbicide products for field and forage crops.
— XtendFlex and Enlist E3 soybean technologies and new herbicide resistant sorghum platforms.
— Weed management experiments for problem weeds.
— Herbicide system approaches in rye cover crops.
— Research of ecological impacts on weed management.
— Herbicide trials in snap bean and pumpkin.
Participants can earn Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture pesticide recertification credits in categories 01, 18 and private category and certified crop advisor credits for integrated pest management.
