LEAP announces fall workshops

Logger Education to Advance Professionalism program has announced its upcoming fall workshops

PUBLISHED ON October 12, 2021

LEAP recognizes that the logging profession is an essential link between Vermont woodlands and forest industry. Along with landowners and foresters, loggers are partners in managing our forests for wood, water, wildlife and recreation. (Forest Service, USDA, Public Domain)

MIDDLETOWN SPRING, Vt. — The Logger Education to Advance Professionalism (LEAP) Program is hosting three workshops this fall: Forest Ecosystems: October 26, Professionalism in Forestry: November 2 and Forest Operations Supervisor; Supervising for Safety: November 9, 2021. Both the Forest Ecosystems and Professionalism in Forestry workshops are required for anyone wanting to be LEAP certified. They will not be offered again this year.

In this workshop, loggers learn about the main elements of forest ecosystems including water and wildlife, how productivity is influenced by various harvesting practices, and how to conserve soil while building access roads that can withstand heavy equipment and the elements.
