SANGERFIELD, N.Y. — Developing effective transition plans is extremely important within farming. Transition plans allow for peace of mind for the future, knowing that the agribusiness operation will be handled correctly. As an owner of a family farm or ranch, many of the assets are tangible items. Land, livestock, and equipment may be difficult to divide evenly among children or desired parties. When retirement comes, selling those assets to help pay taxes and living expenses can be equally challenging.
Join Oneida County Farm Bureau and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County for the Land as Your Legacy Farm Transition Workshop on October 27th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Beaver Creek Bar and Grill in Sangerfield, NY. Henry Mondschein from the Connect Financial Group will be presenting on the topic.
The cost to attend the workshop is $15 per person. This workshop is open to anyone who would like to attend. You do not have to be a Farm Bureau member to attend. Register by emailing Marylynn Collins at mrm7@cornell.edu or call 315-736-3394 ext. 132. Maryellen Baldwin can also be contacted for additional information at mfw73@cornell.edu or call 315-736-3394 ext. 177.
