MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) announces Don Boggs as their Giving Tuesday Honorary Chair. Boggs is a strong advocate for agriculture, especially in the classroom.
During his time at Kansas State University, he was a true champion and advocate for his students. Boggs’ belief in the future of agriculture shines through his former students, who are now serving the agriculture industry all over the world. Boggs’ student-first approach to teaching allowed students to experience agriculture in many different ways, including encouraging students to teach others the truth about agriculture.
“There are many falsehoods in both mainstream and social media regarding food, its value, and the way it is produced,” says Boggs. “KFAC addresses those falsehoods with science-based information delivered to children and young adults through their resources.”
Boggs has been a strong supporter of KFAC for many years, serving on the board as the college of agriculture representative. Boggs values KFAC’s education model as it is a win-win-win situation for education.
“The teachers win because of the availability of high-quality education modules and advanced training. The children win by receiving high-impact hands-on lessons, and agriculture wins with the correct messages being delivered to our next generation of food consumers,” says Boggs.
KFAC provides free educator resources, teacher professional development, and career and industry exploration, inspiring educators to connect youth with the origins of their food, fiber, and fuel and prepare future consumers, policymakers, and leaders.
“With the majority of students now being more than a generation removed from production agriculture, KFAC’s mission of “Connecting Classrooms to Kansas Agriculture” is more relevant and important than ever before,” says Boggs.
Central National Bank and Frontier Farm Credit Associations of Kansas have pledged their support by matching donations during this campaign. Join us and invest in the future of Kansas agriculture!
