LEXINGTON, Ky. — Early-bird registration is open for the 5th annual Kentucky Local Food Systems Summit, set for March 29, 2023, at the University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field in Lexington.

The Food Connection at UK is hosting the one-day event with the Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Organizers wanted to create an information-packed summit to bring together Kentucky’s local food systems practitioners to share challenges, opportunities and to build capacity for the local and regional food economy.

“The Kentucky Local Foods Summit is an incredible opportunity to bring together local food systems stakeholders from across the commonwealth to share best practices and innovations and inspire creativity and collaboration for future local food systems development efforts,” said Ashton Potter Wright, Food Connection at UK executive director.

The summit will include three primary tracks—value chain coordination; cultivating a just, equitable and resilient local food system; and a look into the future. The day will begin at 8 a.m. EST and include large group sessions, breakout sessions, networking and poster sessions. The event qualifies for Kentucky Extension Reporting System credits for Cooperative Extension attendees.

Early-bird registration is $75 per person and ends Jan. 15. Regular registration is $95 per person. Registration includes all sessions, parking, a locally sourced Kentucky Proud lunch, breaks and a networking reception. For a complete agenda, visit the main summit site at https://foodconnection.ca.uky.edu/kentucky-local-food-systems-summit. To register, visit https://whova.com/portal/registration/klfss_202303/.
