FRANKFORT, Ky. — Miss Kentucky 2018 Katie Bouchard is heading to the Miss America competition with a new job title. Through a decades-long partnership between the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) and the Miss Kentucky Organization, Bouchard will serve as the official spokesperson for Kentucky Proud.
“Congratulations to Katie Bouchard on winning the Miss Kentucky competition earlier this year,” Commissioner Quarles said. “All of us at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture wish you well in the national competition and look forward to working with you over the next year.”
Katie Bouchard of Owensboro was crowned Miss Kentucky 2018 on June 30. The daughter of Michael and Amy Bouchard, Katie is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Social Work. Her Miss Kentucky platform is “Being the Voice for Kentucky’s Children,” through which she advocates for the Family Resource and Youth Service Centers across Kentucky. Katie earned an $18,000 scholarship for winning the title of Miss Kentucky.
“I am so honored to serve as the official spokesperson for the Kentucky Proud marketing program,” said Bouchard. “I am excited to travel the state educating Kentuckians of all ages about the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives.”
As part of her responsibilities as Miss Kentucky, Bouchard will visit schools throughout the Commonwealth as an ambassador for the KDA and Kentucky Proud, the state’s official agricultural marketing program. Bouchard will educate students of all age groups about farm safety, agriculture basics, and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
