TOPEKA, Kan. — Ranchers are continually working to protect natural resources and maintain biodiversity on their grasslands, while simultaneously feeding the world. Unfortunately, with activists and others working to create a negative impression of the beef industry, consumers do not always hear the real story about all the great work ranchers are doing for the nation’s landscape. To assist in correcting this, Kansas State University is conducting a study on grazing management strategies.
The objective of this research is to determine the current adoption and use of cattle grazing management plans in the U.S. and their economic impact, including the costs to implement and the resulting production benefits. To gain this information, K-State is asking ranchers to complete an anonymous survey. All responses will be kept in strict confidence, with the data analysis being released in summary form only and no identifying information included. The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete, with questions focused on the respondent’s cattle operation and grazing management practices.
